Using the Object Compare Command Line

The Object Compare command line utility facilitates the use of the product features in batch files and scripts. The command line utility relies on configuration entered in the graphical user interface. For example, two objects can only be compared using the command line if they have been saved into a Workspace using the graphical user interface.

The command line utility supports a subset of the features available through the graphical user interface. The features supported through the command line utility include comparing objects and saving snapshots of objects.

The primary use of the command utility is in batch operations that routinely check for changes of objects in different environments. This could be database or component changes between development, test and production environments.
