The Object Compare command line utility Differ.Cmd.Exe executes commands from the MS-DOS prompt. The command line syntax consists of an Object Compare command followed by the appropriate command options.

Most Object Compare commands require a config file describing the objects to act on.

Command Syntax

The syntax for command line entry is:

differ.cmd.exe <command> [ <config file> | <options> ]

command
Specifies one of the commands for comparing or taking snapshots of objects.

config file
Specifies the config file describing the object(s) to act on. Config files are generated using the graphical user interface Tools menu.

options
Specifies one or more options for the command.
