Object Compare
How To: Create a Snapshot Batch File |
Snapshot batch
files are useful to automate the collection of object snapshots.
A snapshot command requires the use of a config file describing the objects
to snapshot.
The command and config file can be generated using the Object Compare GUI Tools
menu.
To create a Snapshot batch file:
- In the graphical user interface, select the Tools->Create Snapshot Command
File menu.
- In the Select Object For Snapshot dialog, select an object for
the snapshot and choose OK.
- In the Save Command As dialog, select a location and file name for the batch file,
and choose Save.
In the above example, if the file name used for the batch file was Example.Bat
then a config file called Example.Config would
also be created
in the nominated location.
You can customize the batch file parameters by editing the .Bat file in any text
editor. The generated .Config file should not be modified as it contains the search
criteria the Object Compare search engine uses to locate objects.
