Object Compare How to: Locate COM Components for a comparison

Object Compare recognizes COM components from two sources: local and remote file systems and the registered list of COM components as found in the Registry. COM components registered on remote computers are partially accessible to Object Compare; there component identifiers (GUIDS) can be read from remote computers if the user has sufficient rights.

The Select Left Side/Select Right Side dialog is used to select COM components for comparison. Components located in local and remote file systems are mapped accordingly in the dialog. Registered components on the local computer are also aggregrated under the My Computer\Type Libraries object. Registered components on remote computers can be found under the My Network Places\<Network Path>\<Computer Name>\Type Libraries object.
